In Loving Memory
We pause here to remember the club members and canine partners
who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Their years of teaching, volunteering, competing, and building community
strengthened our club and lifted all who trained beside them.
May we honor their legacy in every class taught, every dog guided,
and every moment of joy shared in the sport they loved.

Doug Moreland

The 2026 Obedience Trial was dedicated to long-time SOTC member, volunteer, Board member, and instructor Doug Moreland. Doug was known for his kindness and patience- especially with beginner handlers. Over four decades at SOTC, Doug owned and trained a variety of dog breeds with great success. He earned respect and also became the go-to guy - he was very good at coming up with training suggestions and techniques that were somewhat unusual when a person with a non-traditional breed was having a problem. He loved training and competing with his dogs and always showed nothing but kindness and a smile inside and outside the ring, regardless of how well his dogs performed. His approach to the sport was exactly what everyone should strive to emulate: a fun activity that allowed you to spend quality time with your dog.

Melanie VanderMeer

The 2026 -2027 Rally Trials will be dedicated to longtime club member, volunteer and board member, Melanie VanderMeer. Melanie was a passionate advocate that anyone, any dog, any team could do rally - and have fun learning it.
