Double Trial Day with Judge Patricia John, Jamesville NY
Exhibitors who are working towards their RACH—something to think about. If you have all your triple Q’s and need Masters points, consider entering the Choice class. Rally Choice is the Master’s class without the jump. It will run as first class of each trial. Think of it as an opportunity to “warm up” before the Master’s class.

AKC Temperment Test
AKC Temperment Test - A temperament test or certification measures a dog’s reaction or behavior to various elements presented to them such as a stranger, usually of varying degrees ranging from neutral and friendly, to threatening and aggressive. A measure is also conducted on a dog’s reaction to auditory stimulus (gunshots) and reaction to visual stimulus (umbrella pop). There other environmental exposures such as unusual footing. An example would be to have a dog walk on a very unfamiliar surface. The dog’s reactions are monitored for displays of unprovoked aggression, panic, or strong avoidance, all of which would usually be grounds for failure. (AKC website) SOTC is offering two tests on the same day. (You must pass two tests under two different judges to receive the ATT Title).
Cost: $33 per test
Canine Good Citizen Workshop
The American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen test (CGC) evaluates dogs in simulated everyday situations in a relaxed, noncompetitive atmosphere. Dogs that pass the CGC test are considered reliable family and community members and will receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.
The CGC test evaluates dogs on the following:
Greets a friendly stranger
Sits politely for petting
Welcomes being groomed, brushed; allows paws and ears to be handled
Walks as directed on a loose leash
Moves politely through a crowd
Sits, lies down, and stays in place on command
Comes when called
Behaves politely around other dogs
Reacts with confidence to distractions
Can be left with a trusted person
At the workshop, CGC Evaluator Marcia Boxenbaum will introduce you and your dog to the test format, review the skills tested and answer any questions you have.
This workshop is part of the double workshop night Oct. 4th - save money and register for both the AKC Temperment Test and the AKC CGC Test Workshops!
