Celebrating Our 75th Year

We celebrated our 50th anniversary with our Annual Obedience Trial in Caledonia Park - and a proclamation from The Town of Huntington. What was true then still forms our mission: As the oldest training club on Long Island we continue to provide afforable training classes for dogs and their owners, “thereby enhancing the pet owner relationship with man’s best friend”.

SOTCs efforts and training methods have proved themselves at AKC sanctioned and licensed trials year after year.

Congratulations to SOTC on this diamond anniversary!

Suffolk Obedience Training Club offered its first classes in January 1947. Since then hundreds of members have learned to be better handlers and pet owners from other club members. SOTC trainers continue the tradition of being AKC competitors, certified trainers, evaluators and judges.

Experience the SOTC difference for yourself. Classes and workshops are starting now. See our full description and schedule here.

Thank you to the coutnless volunteers who have served as officers, directors and event coordinators. If you telephone the club today, you will probably get a call back from Club Secretary Kathy Galotti. In 1997, Kathy was the volunteer newsletter editor who researched and wrote a brief history of the club’s first 50 years. You can read the 50th anniversary journal here.

What is an Obedience Title, Really?
